Tetrisation of triangular meshes and its application in shape blending

چکیده
The As-Rigid-As-Possible (ARAP) shape deformation framework is a versatile technique for morphing, surface modelling, and mesh editing. We discuss an improvement of the ARAP framework in a few aspects: 1. Given a triangular mesh in 3D space, we introduce a method to associate a tetrahedral structure, which encodes the geometry of the original mesh. 2. We use a Lie algebra based method to interpolate local transformation, which provides better handling of rotation with large angle. 3. We propose a new error function to compile local transformations into a global piecewise linear map, which is rotation invariant and easy to minimise. We implemented a shape blender based on our algorithm and its MIT licensed source code is available online.

Shape Blending between 3-d Triangular Meshes Based on Their Intrinsic Variables
Shape blending determines the in-between shapes that provide the gradual transformation of one shape into another. It is usually considered a two-step problem: the correspondence problem and the interpolation problem. This paper presents a solution to the interpolation of transforming one triangular mesh model into another triangular mesh based on their intrinsic definitions. Rather than consid...

Application of the computer simulation for solving the incompressible flow problems motivates developing efficient and accurate numerical models. The set of Inviscid Incompressible Euler equations can be applied for wide range of engineering applications. For the steady state problems, the equation of continuity can be simultaneously solved with the equations of motion in a coupled manner using...
متن کاملA comparison of C0 and G1 continuous curved tetrahedral meshes for high-order finite element simulations
This paper examines the effect of curved boundary continuity on finite element simulations. Quartic C0 continuous and G1 continuous meshes with curved boundaries are created from CAD geometry. These C0 continuous and G1 continuous surface triangles are constructed using Bézier triangles and triangular Gregory patches respectively. Curved tetrahedra are constructed using a shape blending with te...
متن کاملPatch Interpolation Using Edge-based Blending Function
By introducing the edge-based blending function derived from the surface-based one, we can capture the e ects of the edges on the shape of the n-sided patch more directly. Because of the good natures of the edge-based blending function, the designers can manipulate it as well as the geometry of the boundary curves to design and modify the patch shape. In this paper, we have discussed the deriva...
متن کاملConstrained quadrilateral meshes of bounded size
We introduce a new algorithm to convert triangular meshes of polygonal regions, with or without holes, into strictly convex quadrilateral meshes of small bounded size. Our algorithm includes all vertices of the triangular mesh in the quadrilateral mesh, but may add extra vertices (called Steiner points). We show that if the input triangular mesh has t triangles, our algorithm produces a mesh wi...
